| Château Batailley is one of the jewels of the Castéja family and the Borie-Manoux firm. The name of this estate comes from the word ‘bataille’, meaning battle, in memory of the skirmish that took place in the vineyards in 1453 during the Hundred year war. |
| Tasting notes |
| Medium to deep ruby-red in color. The nose has a medium intensity of ripe, red-fruits overlaid by cedary notes. Ripe soft red-fruits (strawberry & red cherry) flavours are supported by fresh acidity & followed by attractive cinnamon & cedar spices. Fine tannins are of mid-weight & provide a little grip on the mid-palate. Alcohol is balanced & the finish has reasonable length. |
